How splitting works: equally, exact amounts or by shares
Updated
Equally divides the total between the people ticked. Exact amounts lets you type each person's part. By shares divides the total in proportion to the number you give each person.
Steps
- On the expense form, find Split and pick one of the three options.
- Equally: tick the people who share it. hausync divides the total evenly between them.
- Exact amounts: tick the people, then type an amount next to each name. The hint under the list says how much is left to assign or how much you're over by.
- By shares: tick the people and give each one a number. Everyone starts at 1. Someone with 2 pays twice as much as someone with 1.
- Tap Add expense, or Save if you're editing.
Good to know
- With Exact amounts, the parts must add up to the total or the expense won't save.
- When a total doesn't divide evenly, the leftover cents go one each to some of the people, so the parts always add up to the total.
- Recurring bills always split equally.
