How to back up the house key

Tap Export a backup on the house page to save the key as a small text file. If every phone in the house loses the key, opening or pasting the backup brings the address and Wi-Fi back.

Steps

On Home, tap the house name at the top to open the house page.
In the Details card, tap Export a backup. A text file downloads.
Keep it somewhere private, like a password manager or a drive only you use.
To restore, open the house page, paste the link from the file into Paste the house key or link, and tap Unlock.

Good to know

The backup works the same way as a shared key: only people signed in to this house can use it.
Without a backup, a house whose devices all lost the key can only type the details again, which makes a new key.
